Merry Christmas!

We shuffled to Buffalo for Myles' First Christmas.  Here is Myles all ready for his trip in his new car seat and surrounded by toys and "stuff" for the long ride.   Quite honestly, he had it made back there!

He had still not met many of his cousins nor his grandpa Alex---plus the Sawick's have some deep rooted traditions that we just couldn't bear to not be part of...for instance, the youngest person in the family puts the angel atop the Christmas tree every year----London has had this distinct honor for the past 6 years, however she was very gracious in giving up her throne to Myles this year.

We had a great time---all of his cousins and aunts and uncles doted on him the whole time---the highlight was Myles meeting Santa for the first time ----Matthew's Dad plays the part of Santa every year. Here is pix and video

and here is video of it all unfolding:

Click this LINK for lots more pix of Myles in Buffalo for his first Christmas!  Enjoy!!!

Random videos of just another day in the life of Myles

I promise to have pix of Christmas and our trip to Buffalo soon---but in the meantime, here are a few videos of a normal "day in the life" of Myles---daycare is closed today, so we are staying home which is just as good as it is crappy and rainy and cold outside---so we are playing inside----these show you just how fast he is growing up!!!! he turned 11 months old yesterday, can you believe it??!?!?!    enjoy! and I promise to have Christmas pix up shortly.

and another one

Happy Thanksgiving!

we celebrated Thanksgiving with my brother Phil and his family over the weekend as they are out of town on Thursday----here is Myles eating his first Thanksgiving Dinner---he had turkey, mashed potatoes, and carrots and for dessert a combo of apple and pumpkin puree! perfect!!!

Phil's dogs were outside and Myles had fun "playing" with them and watching them thru the window--entertained him for a long time!

it's football season

More Schooching

you may not all think this is as funny and entertaining as Matthew and I, but we sit and giggle each day as Myles makes his way around the kitchen and other parts of the house schooching on his bottom. He LOVES when I open the refrigerator---he schooches faster than the speed of light to get to it and pull all of the dressings from the bottom shelf----here is another short video of him schooching around the kitchen this morning before leaving for daycare.

Brussel Sprouts

I am trying so hard to expand Myles' tastebuds so he doesn't end up the chicken nugget and fries kid-----I took a gamble today and gave him a brussel sprout--I picked it apart into a few small pieces--and oh my! The gamble paid off! He gobbled it up like it was candy!!! so after 3 sprouts later, I decide to try and video it----here he is shoveling brussel sprouts along with his favorite food---beef! we had a roast last night and he can't get enough of it whenever I offer it to him.   I'm hoping to show him this video in a few years when all he will eat is chicken nuggets and swears that is the only thing he likes--now I have proof that he does like his veggies!

Addie and Myles

I don't think Addie has any fun with Myles---what do you  think?? I'll let you be the judge.

Happy Halloween!

Myles actually was sick the week before and on Halloween, so we didn't go out---I did have a few outfits to show off and we finally put him in his costume--albeit a bit late, but hey, it's better late than never right? and seriously, do you think Myles knew if it was actually Halloween or not???  and we did have some festive glow-in-the-dark skeleton pj's.

I'm scary in my glow in the dark pj's!

More Grandma Lovin! and a few aunts too!

Matthew's mom and two sisters came down for a visit from Buffalo to meet their new family member Myles.  and Myles wowed them all weekend with his smile and giggles.  It was a great weekend of relaxing and enjoying each others company while Myles entertained us all.

scootchin'

The mylestones are happening rapidly in our household!  I've been thinking Myles is going to be walking before he actually crawls---he's not a big fan of being on his stomach no matter what is going on.  But he loves that fact that he can sit up and see things now...so now he has combined 2 of his favorite things--sitting and being quasi-mobile---so he is now scootching (sp?) to get from one place to another.  And he just thinks he is the bomb when he does so as he looks up with that adorable smile and giggle once he gets to his destination.  It may not be the fastest way to get anywhere, but at least he is moving!

Let's hope this video (click here) depicts this so you see what I see---I am at work, so it is preventing me to drop the video onto the blog--sorry about directing you to a link!  :(

More factoids----
** Myles has grown out of his infant car seat and has graduated to next  level
** he currently has 6 teeth completely in and 1 emerging
** 9 month check up is tomorrow! yikes!
** Beef, french toast and mangos are his three favorite foods

More pix coming soon as we had back to back weekends with grandparents and aunts! Lots of good pix and he is actually smiling in them!

clapping!

Oh what a weekend!  Myles figured out how to clap this weekend and entertained himself, us and anyone we encountered all weekend by showing us his new skill.  Here are 2 videos showing you how much fun he is having!  He is also cutting his 3rd tooth--won't be long!

Thank goodness for Mute Button!

Myles has a yucky cold which prevents him from being able to goto Daycare today...so I stayed home with him and "worked" from home.  I did need to participate on a conference call however, so I put Myles in his jumperoo where he easily entertains himself--but usually not this vocally!  Thank goodness for the mute button on my phone!  He is really starting to notice that he has vocal cords---and repeatedly says ba-ba-ba-ba-----so you know DaDa won't be too long!!!!
I also think he is getting over me not being able to capture his smile on camera---here he is all smiles and giggles----not really the "sick baby" you would expect...until he lays down and can't breathe from stuffy nose.
enjoy a little vocal Myles today!

Mylestones

We've been busy here at the Sawick residence---keeping up with Myles has been crazy lately! He has cut 2 teeth---but I can't get you a pix because he won't let me near them with a camera...you are going to have to just trust me.

He has started drinking out of a sippy cup on his own
He also is sitting up by himself (sometimes)....please don't focus on the drool---with his teething, no outfit is safe and there are no dry moments any longer. I'm not sure if you noticed, but he is getting cuter and cuter by the DAY!  :)

Oh what a fun day!

We visited with Myles' birthmother and her family yesterday. In their town, there is a great park that has an antique merry go round that has been restored, a train that goes around the park, lots of other rides, swings, etc...so Myles had his first ride on a Merry go Round  ...he wasn't too sure about it at first, but then got used to it and was all giggles and smiles!  We had a GREAT day and a  great visit...Myles was in rare form all smiles and giggles all day entertaining everyone..even while being passed around to everyone...it truly was a perfect day.
after a long HOT day, it is always good to be back in Daddy's arms

Myles jabbering away

Rare for me to be able to capture Myles in video of him jabbering and giggling and making this funny noise --I hadsome help from my mom and dad distracting him so he wasn't focused on the camera---and got some great footage. here is Myles and for the record, he makes this noise ALL DAY LONG! :)
if doesn't work below click HERE   enjoy!

Big Squirt and Little Squirt

My Mom and Dad were able to spend a couple of days with us on their way back from Maine recently, It was great for them to spend some times with Myles now that he is getting older.  For those of you who don't know, my Dad's nickname forever was Squirt.  Mindy had a shirt that she passed down from Jack that says "little squirt" on it that I have been DYING to get a pix of Myles wearing and my Dad holding him in it---my wish has been granted! So now I have my Big Squirt and Little Squirt!!!  click HERE for more pix of their visit!

Visiting cousins Addie and Kevin

Myles and I hung out with Kevin and Addie last weekend.  Myles had loads of fun patting Paris the dog, chewing on Addie's pantleg, and singing to Aunt Karen.  I can't believe I remember when Kevin and Addie were this little!  Man, does time fly!!!

Grandma and Grandpa visit

My Mom and Dad stopped in to catch a little time with their grandson on their way to Maine....They will get more play time on the way back--but there were lots of smiles and hugs for the short time they were here.

Does it get any better than this??? Grandpa doesn't think so!

Beaming proud Grandma and Grandpa!

RIP Uncle Connie

My uncle Connie Knox passed away earlier this week. After battling diabetes for many years, God thought it was time for Connie to join him upstairs with the angels.  We will all miss his Christmas ornaments he crafted each year, his twinkling eyes when he smiled, his soft chuckle, his love for bees, his HUGE garden and him riding his 3-wheeler despite having both legs amputated.  Times like this I hate living far away. My thoughts and prayers are being sent long distance.

My boy likes his oatmeal!

What can I say, my boy likes his food---just like his Mommy!!!   This may not wow you as much as it does me, but I sit and giggle whenever I feed him because Myles makes so many noises when eating---like he is savoring every morsel.  I apologize for some of the footage as I was holding my phone/video in one hand and feeding him with the other--so every now and then the camera goes astray.

watching the news and talking

Myles this morning watching the morning news and talking to Mommy.  These vocal cords have been getting a workout lately!  he finally let me tape him..even for a little bit.

The Sawick Kids

Matthew's brother Michael, his wife Michelle and 3 kids from Atlanta, GA were in Charlotte for a lacrosse tournament this weekend--and was finally able to meet Myles too!  of course, the cousins were a hit together and doted on Myles---even started Myles with Lacrosse.  And this was a big event for London who is not the youngest Sawick any longer--but she seemed ok to give up her title to Myles.  We had a great time and can't wait for Jake's next tournament this weekend when they return to Charlotte again!
